I have a picture of my daughter on my desk. It is a new picture…taken not more than a few months ago. It’s not that I see her as much as I’d like to – but I know that we will be together soon. Everytime I look at her I either hurt, smile, or cry inside…and by the time I get home, I’ve felt like I’ve been with her all day. It’s amazing how God brings the people we love into our lives. He cares so much for us to allow us to hurt, love, care, and know the intimate depth of one another in such an amazing way. Pictures are one thing, but the picture God brings of us into each others hearts is so real. If you haven’t asked him for his Holy Spirit. Today is a good day to do so. In Christ, we can be with one another in ways beyond our comprehension. In Christ we have unity.

Who says teens can’t do amazing things! Two guys from Canada sent this little guy into SPACE!!! The only thing that would make this better would be if the Lego man had a sign that said “Brittany Rocks”…well a girl can wish right?

On the brink….
January 29th, 2012 by Tom
I saw this picture of these beautiful elephants the other day…
The Sumatran elephants. Turns out they are on the brink of extinction. Reports are that in just 30 years they may be extinct in the wild. How bout’ the love in that mama elephants eyes… Just a reminder that we gotta look out for the animals too!
Proverbs 12:10…The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.

I found a list of the Worlds Most Popular Landmarks. I like to travel and I would love to see all of these….so far, I’ve seen one, Millennium Park. Looks like I’ve got some traveling to do! Click on the picture to see the list.
P.S. John Balyo took this picture. Obviously he has seen more of these places than I have
Brave little girl.

We face some pretty fierce moments in life…hoping we can all have the same courage as this 3 year old girl facing a lion at a zoo.
“Be Strong and Courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
National Human Trafficking Awareness Day
January 11th, 2012 by Brittany

January 11th is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. Here are some facts involving Human Trafficking…
• There are nearly two million children in the commercial sex trade around the
world. (UNICEF)
• Every year there are an estimated 600,000 to 800,000 children, women and men
trafficked across international borders. (U.S. Department of State)
• Approximately 80 percent of human trafficking victims are women, and up to 50
percent are children. (U.S. Department of State)
• The total market value of illicit human trafficking is estimated to be in excess of
$32 billion. (U.N.)
Now, while this IS a problem in the world AND the United States there are things that YOU can do right now to make a difference.
• Pray: for the adults and children who are in human trafficking, for those in the government and organization fighting this evil, and for Christians to take a stand against this issue.
• Support organizations that engage in the fight against human trafficking. These
include:
• Compassion International www.compassion.com
• International Justice Mission www.ijm.org
• Project Hannah www.projecthannah.org
• Women at Risk www.warinternational.org
• Fight trafficking with your wallet. Learn how your favorite brands relate to
trafficking and other labor abuses by going to www.free2work.org

The last album by The David Crowder*Band came out today. It’s called “Give Us Rest” and has 34 tracks. Here’s a video the band posted on their page, giving us a “glimpse” into what life after the band might be like. I laughed, a lot. Enjoy

Bloom in the Winter
January 8th, 2012 by Tom
So I’ve got this plant on my desk. It’s a winter cactus and it’s in full bloom. Super-Beautiful. I was given it by a friend and co–worker who left it in my care. I’m finding I kinda have a green thumb these days. It didn’t always used to be that way. But when we give our hearts to Christ, beautiful things begin to take shape. It reminded me, though, of something I heard a friend say many years ago. He was asked, “Do you think it’s a good idea for me to get a pet?”, by someone in a support group that I was a member of. He answered (and this is just a rough recollection) , “Well, If you can keep a plant for a year, without it dying…then you can get a pet; and if you can keep a pet for a while without it dying…then you can begin to think about having kids.”
I’ve got two daughters; and it’s not always easy to know the best things to say, you know…I struggle sometimes. But I’m finding that the Lord is giving me what I need to be a good dad. Not perfect by any means…but more loving and kind than I’ve been in a long time. He pours into us such comfort and care to give to others; and loves us through it too. We serve an awesome God who wants for us to bloom.
I’ve got the plant thing down. God’s still working on the rest.
Thriving by his grace….

No thanks!
January 3rd, 2012 by Brittany
Ok, growing up I was never really into dolls. I never had a “baby doll”. I know that’s practically a right of passage for girls, but, I was never into it.
I, on the other hand, LOVED my brothers Legos. I made buildings, cars, houses, robots, airplanes, and the list goes on. So when I heard that Lego was coming out with “legos for girls”, I was intrigued…but…

THESE ARE NOT LEGOS! These are dolls, under the name of Lego. I think I’ll pass. Give me the Star Wars lego building set any day.
